Investing is extremely risky business if you decide to act on your own decisions without the proper knowledge or experience. In fact, even for this reason I myself at times fear fund managers because they are in power to sell the funds holdings based off their own impulses. Historically, if you were to hold an index fund you wouldn’t lose money over a lifetime. The key is to many people fall prey to the mass fear mongering and SELL when the market declines heavily. You must take a contrarian approach. Be an optimist. Believe in the future of the markets and continue investing. Historically if this was done, you’d be very wealthy today. As for investing in individual companies, that is a ball game that requires much study and practice. This is why if you lack knowledge you are at high risk to suffering financial consequences.
